René joined Global Switch as Managing Director, Amsterdam in 2023 with around 22 years’ experience within the IT and data centre sectors.
Prior to joining Global Switch René was most recently Managing Director at a European carrier neutral data centre provider, part of the Ocom Group, where his key responsibilities included sourcing and acquiring land, negotiating with various government bodies, designing and developing real estate and data centre modules, and sourcing and contracting new suppliers. Prior to this he was Chief Operations Officer for Leaseweb, a leading IaaS and Cloud provider. René has strong operational experience, across a broad spectrum of core management and leadership areas and has a firm foundational understanding of data centre and network management, data centre design, and project management.
René is a Dutch national, holds a Business Management degree from the University of Groningen and speaks three languages, Dutch, English and German.
René holds responsibility for both the commercial and operational management of Global Switch Amsterdam. Furthermore he is responsible for developing Global Switch’s fourteenth data centre, Amsterdam East, which will provide a further 32,000 sq m to the existing data centre campus.
